Established in December 2021, the Sino-Swiss Institute for Advanced Technologies (SIAT) of Shanghai University is an important university-level research institution of Shanghai University. Jointly organized by Shanghai University and the team of Peter Seitz, Vice President of the Swiss Academy of Engineering, it is currently headed by Benoît Dubuis, President of the Swiss Academy of Engineering.

The institute focuses on innovation, entrepreneurship and talent cultivation in precision biochip detection technology and wearable medical microsystems, and its main research directions include: 1. Health detection biochip: focusing on sweat sensors, which are mainly used in smart wearable non-invasive monitoring devices; 2. Disease diagnostic biochip: focusing on diseases such as lung cancer, breast cancer, etc., and realizing rapid and precise diagnosis of tumors and infectious diseases; 3. Diagnostic and treatment Integrated microsystems: based on flexible biosensing and core biomaterials technology, to build wearable microsystems for high-precision diagnosis and treatment; 4. Non-implantable brain-computer interface technology: in response to the problem of aging population, to carry out research on bioelectronic circuits and multimodal heterogeneous integration technology for the response to the science and technology of healthy aging.

The institute will accelerate global talent acquisition, create interdisciplinary and internationalized high-level R&D teams, continue to promote the development of key technologies for future precision medicine, and rely on the institute's platform to promote the gathering of relevant talents, technologies and industries in Europe to help build a medical and healthcare chip industry cluster in Shanghai. At the same time, we will actively promote the cooperation between the Chinese and Swiss Engineering Institutes, and facilitate the inter-university strategic cooperation between Shanghai University and the top universities in Europe, so as to enhance the international influence of Shanghai and Shanghai University.
