Profile of Shanghai University

Shanghai University is a comprehensive under the jurisdiction of Shanghai Municipality and a key construction project the national“211 Project”.

It is a university jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, as well as a university jointly built by the National Defense Science and Technology Industry Bureau and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. It is one of the first Pilot projects of construction of high-level local universities in Shanghai, and a first-class discipline construction university under the Ministry of Education.

Adhering to the school motto of "striving for self-improvement and helping the world" and the school spirit of "unity of knowledge and action, pursuit of excellence", Shanghai University will strive to buid itself into a world-class comprehensive research university with distinctive characteristics.

About School of Microelectronics

The discipline of microelectronics at Shanghai University originated in 1958 and was one of the first semiconductor science and technology majors in China. The college was established in November 2019 and is located on the Jiading campus of Shanghai University. It is jointly built by Shanghai University, the Shanghai Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Jiading District Government, Shanghai Microtechnology Industry Research Institute, and other innovative enterprises in the entire integrated circuit industry chain. Based on the Jiading Wing of the integrated circuit industry layout in Shanghai, the school is committed to building a quasi industrial and international first-class microelectronics college through the integration of industry and education, science and education, and interdisciplinary integration.Facing the main battlefield of the national economy, it cultivates scarce talents in the integrated circuit industry and serves the major strategic needs of the country. In 2021,the School of Microelectronics at Shanghai University was incorporated into a joint venture between the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai Municipal Government.

Discipline Direction

The college has established research bases such as the Key Laboratory of New Display Technology and Application Integration of the Ministry of Education, the Shanghai Intelligent Perception Chip Technology Collaborative Innovation Center, the Shanghai Automotive Internet Interaction Chip and System Key Laboratory, the Integrated Circuit and New Display Materials Engineering Research Center, and the China Switzerland Advanced Technology Research Institute, committed to creating a source of innovation in integrated circuit application technology, Layout five main strategic directions: integrated photons and MEMS intelligent sensing, intelligent display chips and flexible electronics, advanced microelectronics and information materials,micro/nano manufacturing and semiconductor equipment, chip design and system applications, to solve several "bottleneck" technical problems in the field of integrated circuit pan Moore applications, and form a batch of applied scientific research achievements that can support the development of the integrated circuit industry.

About SHU-SSIAT

The Sino-Swiss Institute of Advanced Technology (Short for the SHU-SSIAT or SSIAT) is jointly established by Shanghai University and Prof. Peter Seitz, a member and Vice President of the Swiss Academy of Engineering, Vice-President of the European Union's large technology platform Photonics 21, an international authority on optoelectronics and its applications in the medical field and also a fellow of the European Optical Society etc.

Prof. Peter Seitz's team is now developing sensors for clinical monitoring of vital signs, as well as wearable devices with continuous diagnostic functions based on multiple sensors. Facing on people's life and health and Shanghai's three leading industries, based on integrated circuit chips, Targeting biomedical applications, and the fusion of artificial intelligence as a means of intersection, and SSIAT focuses on the following three research directions:

1.Health detection biochip: focused sweat sensor, mainly used for smart wearable non-invasive monitoring devices.

2.Disease diagnosis biochip: Around cancer, COVID-19 and other diseases, to achieve rapid and accurate diagnosis of tumors and infectious diseases.

3.Biochip core materials: Based on flexible biosensing and core biomaterial technology, artificial organ chips integrated with diagnosis and treatment are constructed.

Discipline Direction

The SSIAT focuses on multiple research directions such as microelectronic chips, biochips (organ chips), sweat sensing, and real-time rapid detection of tumors. It has strategic cooperative relations with many European universities such as the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology etc. The main research areas include: (1) Functional nucleic acid biosensor; Microfluidic biochip/organ chip; Controlled-release nanobiologic materials; Biological information systems and applications. (2) Functional integration and array design of chemical sensors; Sensing signal deep learning and big data analysis; Organic semiconductor functional materials; Wearable electronics, etc. (3) Advanced micro and nano electronic devices, advanced on-chip interconnection applications; Carbon-based micro-nano electronic devices; Wearable flexible device and biological signal amplifier circuit design; SOI device; Single photon detection, etc. (4) Research on surface functional micro-nano structure manufacturing, flexible wearable electronic device design and the basic problems of solid mechanics involved.
