In the golden autumn season, bountiful harvests are anticipated. On September 23, the “Intelligence Convergence in Baoshan · Jointly Promoting Transformation—Symposium on Matchmaking between Academicians of the Swiss Academy of Engineering and Key Industries/Science and Technology Projects” was successfully held at the Nanjing University Data Intelligence Center in Lingang. Attendees included Gao Lu, Member of the Standing Committee of the Baoshan District Party Committee and Head of the Organization Department; heads of relevant units such as the District Talent Bureau, District Science and Technology Commission, University Science Park Company, and Nanjing University Development Company; as well as relevant leaders from Shanghai University. Academician Benoit Dubuis, President of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences, led a delegation of six distinguished academicians specializing in information and communication technology, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing. They engaged in in-depth discussions with representatives from key district-based science and technology enterprises participating in the “investment-first, equity-later” program, including Hinton AI, Zhenfu Medical, and MiaoZhi Technology. Centered on building bridges for international scientific cooperation, the event focused on Baoshan's key industrial upgrades and high-level talent needs. Through in-depth dialogue and exchange, it sparked innovative ideas, accelerating Baoshan's integration into the global innovation network and advancing its high-level open development.

Currently, Shanghai is leveraging the enhancement of its “four major functions” to deepen international scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation, striving to create an international talent development environment. As a vital component of Shanghai's innovation landscape, Baoshan District actively implements national and municipal initiatives. Grounded in its “One Base, Two Zones” development goals and targeting key sectors like advanced materials, intelligent equipment, and life sciences, the district urgently needs to connect with global premium innovation resources to overcome industrial technology bottlenecks and optimize its talent development ecosystem. This China-Switzerland Science and Technology Dialogue represents a key initiative by Baoshan to advance regional transformation under the guidance of the Municipal Party Committee, establishing a vital platform for precisely matching international cutting-edge expertise with local industrial needs.

The symposium highlighted intellectual exchange and demand alignment as core focal points. In her concluding remarks, Gao Lu, Member of the District Party Committee Standing Committee and Head of the Organization Department, emphasized that Baoshan is currently at a critical juncture of transformation and urgently requires support from top international talent and technology. She emphasized that Baoshan will continuously refine its “world-class” innovation ecosystem. Leveraging the Baoshan University Science and Technology Park Company as a platform and its specialized service institutions—such as the Xingzhi Innovation Academy and the EMI Sanjiang New Materials Incubator—as hubs, the district will deepen regular communication and cooperation mechanisms with the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences. This will facilitate the efficient flow of innovation elements including talent, technology, and projects. Simultaneously, it will fully address bottlenecks and challenges for enterprises “going global,” helping local science and technology enterprises connect with global markets. This will position Baoshan as fertile ground for international talent innovation and entrepreneurship and a bridgehead for Sino-Swiss technological cooperation.

The Party Secretary and Chairman of Shanghai Baoshan University Science Park Development Co., Ltd. systematically introduced Baoshan's innovation and technology service and functional system. From co-creation of projects, equity-based incubation, and industrial acceleration to targeted empowerment, this presentation comprehensively showcased Baoshan's “full lifecycle” service ecosystem designed to support the establishment and growth of innovation and technology projects. A sincere invitation was extended to Academician Benoit Dubuis, President of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences, expressing hope that collaboration would introduce more high-quality international innovation projects and resources. The company pledged to deliver optimal teams and services to facilitate efficient transformation of research outcomes.

Presentations by key projects under Baoshan District's “Investment-First, Equity-Later” initiative further ignited enthusiasm during the exchange. Hinton AI Technology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Zhenfu Medical Technology Co., Ltd., and Shanghai MiaoZhi Technology Co., Ltd. showcased their technological strengths, product applications, and international development needs in the fields of artificial intelligence, high-end medical technology, and frontier science, respectively. Among them, the founder of Hinton AI Technology Co., Ltd. expressed heartfelt appreciation: “This symposium precisely connects us with the platform and resources we need for global expansion.” His sentiment resonated deeply with other tech startups, while the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences team delivered substantive support through “tailored responses.” Academician Benoit Dubuis, President of the Academy, proposed specific application scenarios for Hinton AI's technology—such as collaborations with international perfume companies—offering concrete, actionable directions for global market expansion. Project presentations by Shanghai Zhenfu Medical and MiaoZhi Technology also received detailed inquiries and guidance from the academicians regarding international market access standards and technical collaboration pathways.

“Baoshan's innovation vitality is impressive; these high-quality projects possess vast potential for international cooperation,” remarked Academician Benoit Dubuis, President of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences, offering strong affirmation of Baoshan's innovation ecosystem.

The event combined on-site visits with in-depth discussions, allowing the Swiss academicians to fully experience Baoshan's vibrant scientific and technological innovation ecosystem. At the Nanda Digital Intelligence Oasis, the academicians visited the Shanghai Baoshan General Robotics Research Institute and Shanghai Chengge Biotechnology Co., Ltd., gaining firsthand insights into Baoshan's technological R&D and industrial transformation achievements in intelligent equipment and biotechnology. At the Baoshan Nanda Smart City planning exhibition area, the blueprint for future integrated industrial-urban development and smart low-carbon initiatives earned high recognition from the academicians for Baoshan's growth potential.

China-Switzerland Science and Technology Dialogue

This China-Switzerland Science and Technology Dialogue served not only as a high-level international exchange event but also as a vivid demonstration of Baoshan's commitment to high-level opening-up and advancing high-quality development. By connecting with Switzerland's top scientific resources and talent, Baoshan has broadened its international cooperation horizons, providing new pathways for key industries to overcome technological bottlenecks, for science and technology enterprises to expand into international markets, and for talent teams to deepen cross-border collaboration. Moving forward, Baoshan will build upon this event to continuously establish international science and technology cooperation platforms and optimize the talent development environment. This will attract more global innovation resources to Baoshan and facilitate the implementation of more international cooperation outcomes in the district. Baoshan will contribute its strength to Shanghai's goal of building a globally influential hub for science, technology, and industrial innovation, and to the nation's pursuit of high-level self-reliance and strength in science and technology.
